Energy and Well-Being Pocketbook by Gillian Burn (Author)
Synopsis from Amazon.co.uk

With a background in the health sector and a Masters degree in exercise and health services, author Gillian Burn begins her keep-fit class by demonstrating how to carryout an energy and well-being audit which will help readers to establish their personal well-being goals. What we eat and the space in which we work are key to boosting energy levels. The author describes how food can stimulate the brain and relieve stress, and how plants, colour, sound, lighting and other factors can contribute to the creation of an energy-boosting work environment. Of course, physical exercise cannot be ignored. There is advice on poise/posture, breathing, taking energy-boosting breaks and a range of activities that can be carried out, including desk exercises. In conclusion there are sections on work/life balance and on how to create a well-being and energy action plan.

Note from Pat: I really liked this little book which is small enough to pop in a pocket and read whenever you have a few moments to spare.

The Wellness Book: The Comprehensive Guide to Maintaining Health and Treating Stress-Related Illness by Herbert Benson and Eileen Stuart
Herbert Benson is regarded as the 'father' of the Relaxation Response due to his pioneering work in this field overe a great many years.

Note from Pat: This happens to be my favourite of all the books available on Managing Stress and promoting Wellbeing. It is a most readable book, packed full of really useful information and examples.

The Food and Mood Handbook by Amanda Geary
Amanda Geary is a nutritional therapist and founder of The Food and Mood Project. This book is an invaluable guide for anyone who wishes to explore the relationship between diet, nutrition and emotional and mental health. The Food and Mood Project was set up by Mind, the mental health charity, and many of the Project's participants found that changing their diet brought about a remarkable reduction in food cravings together with lower levels of anxiety, depression and mood swings.
We have long know that coffee works as a stimulant but more recent research has shown that caffeine stays in the body for much longer than originally thought and can contribute to poor and lost sleep. Equally, eating other types of food can boost the immune system and improve health. This is a 'must read' for anyone who wishes to take a more natural approach to improving wellbeing.
