What is Pilates?

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. Most Pilates exercises are low impact and low weight bearing. Suitable no matter what your age or condition. A gentle start to exercise if none performed recently, a safe rehab programme or an advanced workout for more experienced exercisers.

Joseph Pilates believed that our physical and mental health are intertwined. He designed his exercise program around principles that support this philosophy, including concentration, precision, control, breathing, and flowing movements. These are all practiced whilst developing controlled movements from a strong core.

Why use Pilates?

  • You'll be much more flexible
  • Your muscles will be stronger
  • It helps detox the lymphatic system
  • It will give you a flatter stomach and trimmer waist
  • You'll learn perfect posture
  • It tones thighs, bottom, arms and shoulders
  • Posture based headaches will disappear
  • You'll have a stronger back to ward off back pain
