Managing Stress > Practical help > Books and CDs

I am often asked to recommend books and music for relaxation and, to be truthful, it is really a very difficult thing to do. We all enjoy different types of music, and our taste in reading varies just as much.

I am sure that someone, somewhere, will have researched the best type of music to help with both relaxation and meditation. My personal feeling is that it is a matter of trying out a few different CDs and seeing which suits you best.

Music is available from a wide variety of sources including amazon.co.uk, play.com, supermarkets, WH Smith, iTunes.com and legalsounds.com and many others. In the CDs section I have listed some of the music to which I listen, and which I have found to be helpful.

iTunes.com has a wide range of audiobooks and podcasts relating to stress, relaxation and meditation and is worth a visit. Use a variety of search titles such as relaxation, meditation, Reiki etc.

In the books section I have selected a number of books which I have found to be helpful and have tried to give a balanced opinion of my findings together, where appropriate, with a review from elsewhere.

We are so fortunate these days to have the option to listen to books rather than have to read them. A wide range of audiobooks is available online from iTunes and Amazon to name but two sources.

Happy reading!
